So I was really worried that I was going to have a bad day. All morning I was just wandering around all sad, trying really hard to get some work done and keep my mind occupied because I was determined that this was the worst day ever. I am use to waking up [kinda] early for the 4th of July celebrations and basically spending the entire day with my family. Well since I'm a few states away this year obviously I wouldn't be taking part in my traditional activities. Lucky for me I have made some friends here, and while it took a couple of hours in deciding what was going to go down we finally made our way to a park here in Goleta (the town that we actually live in is Goleta, Santa Barbara is just a little ride away).
We went to a park with all kinds of Independence Day fun. It was really a family event so there were a lot of kids games, not that that was going to stop us from participating!! There was also face painting, that we also took part in, and of course fireworks! It is not easy being so far away from my family and friends, both old and new, especially since I am gone for some pretty important dates (my birthday, Independence Day, and numerous friends' birthdays) but today made it just a little easier.
Ok, so these first few are of my birthday.
A couple of us went down to the beach so that I didn't feel like I completely wasted a birthday.
Now we get to the good stuff.
Independence Day 2012.
Haha, my dinner. Devan and I had to keep going back to the food stand because some fairly attractive firemen were working there.
The gang. Lorie, Devan, Seelai, Evelyn, Tanairi, and Me.
Stretching before tossing the water balloon.
Didn't win but got second place!
Lorie and her CORN ON THE COB!!!
Tanairi's turn for face painting.
I had to represent Doctor who!
Bow ties are cool!
Us lovely ladies and our face paint.
Watermelon eating contest! Didn't win but loads of fun!
This cool kid let me get a pic of his skull paint. Coolest one I saw today.
Lorie went "ice skating" and we got these nice stickers for it.
Yea, we are still children at heart :)
DOCTOR WHO!?
Cuddled up in my warm blanket.
They attacked me and pushed me down :( haha
A little girl game me a glow bracelet! She was so sweet! Tardis blue of course.
My camera doesn't do the best job with fireworks...
But I tried.
It was a pretty great day. I am not looking forward to washing this paint off though! Happy Independence Day everybody, or day after, I am posting this a little late... Oh well, y'all get it!
