Happy Birthday to me... happy birthday to me...
I took a couple of days off from writing my blog, sorry to those who noticed. I decided that I just wanted to enjoy my weekend here and go out and have some fun. Since I got sick that didn't happen exactly how I hoped it would but I managed to find a way to chuckle through it all.-Friday-
Well what can I say about Friday? Uuuhhhhhh.... gonna be totally honest with you, I can't remember a whole lot of that day. Which most likely means that I was a good little girl and just spend the whole day doing research. I usually put dates on the notes that I take for my research and so if we take a look here..... ah, yes, I was a very good girl and read some articles and parts of books I got from the gorgeous library here. Haha, smart little me.
And if memory serves me I do believe that I finally heard back from my Dad via skype. Yes, that's right because I had been diligently working and doing my laundry at the same time when my father so rudely interrupted me leading me to have to carry my laptop all the way to the laundry center just so I could keep speaking with him ;)
Just kidding, love you daddy, you know I always enjoy hearing from you! I seriously did carry my laptop to the laundry so I could keep talking to him. Picture how stupid I looked carrying around my computer and yelling at it. And yes, people were watching me. Proof I love you daddio!
I also had been reading in the sun for awhile that day, I have a sunburned and peeling back to prove it. Now I have to start all over on my tan :(
Later that night I got to spend some time having fun, as I finally got to see a movie that I have been wanting to forever!! And so with some very lovely ladies that I am happy to say have already become good friends of mine, we hiked our way to the movie theater and spent some time reverting to our childhood selves and enjoyed the Disney/Pixar movie Brave.
| Ah! Here we are! That's me, Seelai, Devan, Evelyn, Yelena, Tanairi, and Lorie! |
Yea you can't see it too great because it was really dark out. I might have gotten an even better picture if we got closer but uh, no thank you. And lucky for us it ran away, we heard those things like to chase. How awful would that have been?
-Saturday-
So this is the day that my sickness kicked into full gear. I woke up feeling really dizzy which gave me a headache and stomachache. It was no fun. I was going to go with everyone to the beach that day but instead I ended up staying in bed until around 3 in the afternoon. When I finally crawled out of bed I was feeling a bit better and so I figured that I was good enough to get out and do something, and I am so glad that I did!!
I had the honor on this day to attend a Catholic Mass at the Church of the Beatitudes here in Santa Barbara. I went to check out the place, since it is the basis of my research this summer but I plan to return because of the amazing experience I had. The church is part of the Roman Catholic Womanpriest Movement. It is a movement that strives for equality for everybody in the Catholic church. The mass was presided over by one of over a hundred womanpriests within the United States. If anybody is interested in learning more about the Womanpriest movement here is a link- http://www.romancatholicwomenpriests.org/
I had an amazing experience at the mass and felt so welcomed by every person in attendance. I even was given some plums from a sweet and wonderful parishioner, just one of the expressions of love and acceptance I witnessed that night. I was even invited to participate in the mass, to read out loud a part of the mass as all who come are welcome to join in worship.
-Sunday-
Again I woke up feeling ill and so spent another day mostly in bed. This meant me missing even more time to spend with my new friends, this time they all went to a swap meet (or what we call a flea market). From what I told it wasn't too exciting anyway, although they may have told me that so I didn't feel so bad about missing it...
And so most of the day I partook in one of my guilty pleasures, for which I blame friend Lindsey for having brought it back into my life, and I watched way too many episodes of Veronica Mars. Now I feel ashamed for this, but only ever so slightly...
Haha, yea that was my Sunday. Exhilarating was it not?
And we have...
-Monday-
July 2, 2012. The day that will forever be known as my 22nd birthday, the day I did more research, but hey, its research in California! Now that is exciting!!
The day isn't over yet. Let us see what trouble I can find for myself.
Now I am not going to be greedy and ask for anything for my birthday, I am just going to mention how awesome the sonic screwdriver from Doctor Who is. Just you know, it looks cool, it sounds cool, it is cool. I am only relating this to myself because I think I'm a pretty cool chick as well. Again, not asking for a birthday present, you know, just saying.... :)
