 Turning Into A California Girl

Hello Starshine, the Earth says Hello!! I made to California a-ok. My wonderful brother was ssssooooo great as to drive lil ole me to the airport in the wee hours of the morning, accompanied by his gorgeous girlfriend while I slept in the backseat of the car :) love you both!!

So if any of you have talked to me in the last few weeks before coming out here you will know that I was kinda just a little bit not excited about coming. As many of you know I spent the last semester (over four months) over in Europe, which was just fantastic!! but that gave me only a month at home with my family and friends before I had to leave them all again :(  So everyday I would complain that I did not want to go, but I went, and you know what... I LOVE IT!!!!

I forgot how beautiful it is here! I came here last summer with two awesome ladies that I know from St. Norbert's just to scope the place out and now I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to spend two whole months here. I was worried it was going to be hot and nasty out like it has been back home in Wisconsin but we have the lovely ocean over here keeping the constant breeze nice and cool. So refreshing...

The early flight out of the cheese state kind of sucked, but it was a four hour flight so I slept the whole way. I then woke up and started freaking out because I realized I had a connecting flight in Phoenix (long story I won't get into it but I had a bad experience at that airport), lucky me though the gate I had to get to was really close to where I landed, and while waiting for my flight I met up with Devan, another St. Norbert's chicky that I met and is in the McNair program with me.  Aaaannnnyyywwwhhhhoooo, the flight from Phoenix to Santa Barbara was pretty short (sadly since I was sitting next to this gorgeous man from London whom I had a lovely conversation with wherein he used the words 'mates' and 'jumper' he was so cute!!) and before I knew it I was outside with a gorgeous view of the mountains and the cool breeze of the sea kissing my skin.

Luckily I didn't have to pay for a ride to my apartments I just hitched a ride with this guy with one eye and a scraggly beard... just kidding dad :) free university shuttle--totally safe!! Oh oh oh, my apartment, so cute!! I love it. A nice little kitchen one and a half bathrooms and decent sized room, two people to a room. Devan and I are in the same apartment, different rooms, and I am rooming with a girl from Washington state named Evelyn (cool name right!).

After unpacking and just relaxing for a little bit Devan, Evelyn, me, and Briana (our upstairs neighbor) went on a little walk-about to try to find some food... THREE hours later we finally found a cute little burger joint. haha, long story short, we got lost. We went about half an hour in the completely wrong direction and then when we finally started going the right way we took the long way around the campus and found the beach and well...

from there we got a little distracted. After awhile though our hunger took over and led us to where we needed to go.

The place doesn't look like much but the food was pretty good when I was as hungry as I was!

Sorry to everybody who asked but I do not know my address yet, I have to rent a p.o. box, I will be doing that shortly. No worries.

Alright, I got some work to do, gotta plan a lil trip to Disney World for the weekend after my birthday. I am gonna love it here!!
